The two sides agreed to coordinate closely in organizing activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties this year in a bid to further deepen the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

Deputy PM, FM Minh spoke highly of the US Administration’s determination to curb the COVID-19 and restart the economy.

Appreciating the US timely support for Vietnam, Minh suggested both sides continue cooperation in development of drugs and vaccines against the COVID-19.

Pompeo highly valued Vietnam’s responses to the COVID-19 outbreaks as well as bilateral cooperation in this fight, affirming the US will continue sharing information and experience with Vietnam.

He asked the two countries to continue collaboration in ensuring essential medical supplies and work with other countries to push back the pandemic soon.

Pompeo hailed Vietnam’s role in responding to common challenges, and agreed to step up coordination to promote the ties between ASEAN and the US during the time when Vietnam serves as the ASEAN 2020 Chair and non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

On the occasion, the pair also discussed regional and international issues of common concerns.
