Vietnam confirms two more SARS-CoV-2 positive cases, reaching 94 patients

On the evening of March 21, the Ministry of Health has recently confirmed two additional cases tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, bringing the total in Vietnam so far to 94.

The 93rd patient was a 20-year-old male resident in Dong Da District, Ha Noi. A student in Hungary, he boarded the flight no. SU290 – row 27B and arrived at Noi Bai International Airport on March 18th. Early screening tests of Ha Noi’s Center for Disease Control showed that he was positive on March 20th.

On March 21, Ha Noi CDC has sent sample results collected on March 20th to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. Results returned in the afternoon showed that the patient is positive with SARS-CoV-2.

At the moment, the patient is under quarantine and receiving treatments at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases (NHTD); his health conditions remain stable.

The 94th patient was a 64-year-old female resident in Bac Giang city. She paid a visit to her daughter in the Czech Republic from February 29 to March 17.

She returned to Vietnam on flight no. SU290 – row 28A, a row away from the patient no. 93rd (row 27B). Early screening tests of Ha Noi’s Center for Disease Control showed that he was positive on March 20. Ha Noi CDC had taken and sent samples to the NHTD on the same day. Results returned today showed that confirmed that she is positive with SARS-CoV-2.

At the moment, the patient is under quarantine and receiving treatments at the NHTD’s Dong Anh branch; her health conditions remain stable.
