Vietnam Ambassador chairs the ASEAN heads of missions meeting in Myanmar

On April 11th, 2019, Vietnam Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Dr. Luan Thuy Duong chaired the ASEAN heads of missions' monthly meeting (ASEAN HOMs' meeting) at Melia Hotel Yangon.

Attending the meeting there were the Ambassadors from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore; the Charges d'Affairs from Indonesia and Thailand; and diplomats and embassy staffs from 09 ASEAN countries in Myanmar.

At the meeting, participants discussed many issues relating to the political economic & social situation of Myanmar; ASEAN-relating issues as well as the activities of ASEAN Embassies in Myanmar.

Ambassador Luan Thuy Duong also informed ASEAN heads of missions about the visits of the Special Envoy of the Vietnam Prime Minister and the Vietnam Minister of Public Security to Myanmar in January and February 2019 respectively, as well as the Hanoi Summit between the US and Noth Korea at the end of February 2019.

To conclude the meeting, Ambassador Luan Thuy Duong handed over the chairmanship of the next ASEAN HOMs' meeting to the Ambassador of Brunei.

On this occasion, Ambassador Luan Thuy Duong invited the Director General of the Strategic Studies and Training Department under the Myanmar Union Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Spouses of A​SEAN heads of missions to attend the luncheon after the meeting.
