Furthermore, local authorities have worked to set up additional lighting system in the area, as well as enhance vehicle management, security, environmental sanitation and food safety.

One month after its launch, the walking street has drawn a large number of people on weekends, with an average of 5,000-6,000 visitors per week.

Tran Phuc Hien from Ha Noi’s Ha Dong district said the walking street offers diverse entertainment activities for locals and visitors.

Art performances and sport activities are frequently held at the walking area, with the participation of artists from the Ha Noi Cheo (popular theatre) and Cai luong (reformed opera) Theatres, among others. A variety of folk games are also organised such as game of squares and jumping rope, attracting many children.

The street, named after Trinh Cong Son (1939-2001), one of the greatest songwriters of modern Vietnam, is designed to be a venue of arts and street food performance. Its opening was postponed several times for better preparations.

Along with the street, the pedestrian space also contains part of Alley 431 Au Co street and Alley 612 Lạc Long Quân street.

The first pedestrian space of Ha Noi is streets around Hoan Kiem Lake and Ha Noi Old Quarter, which are popular destinations for Hanoians and tourists.
