Health ministry reports 9 more COVID-19 infection cases, total rises to 85

The Ministry of Health has reported 9 more COVID-19 infection cases in Vietnam, bringing the total to 85.

The latest patients are 77th-85th cases in the nation, including four residents of Ha Noi and one American citizen.

The 77th patient is a female student, aged 25, returning from the UK. She landed at Noi Bai International Airport on March 17 on flight QR976.

She is being quarantined at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

The 78th patient is also a male student, aged 22, returning from the UK on March 17 on flight EK394.

He is being quarantined at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

The 79th patient is a 48-year old woman from the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu. She has been living in the UK for the past two years.

On March 14, she flew from the UK on Emirates’ flight EK4, after transiting in Dubai, she arrived in Vietnam on March 15 on Emirates’ flight EK392.

On March 16, she developed symptoms of fever and cough and was taken to and has been quarantined at Cu Chi field hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 80th patient is a 18-year old man from Bac Lieu Province, who has been living with his mother (the 79th patient) in the UK over the last two years.

The 81st patient is a 20-year old man from the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. He returned to Vietnam from France on AirFrance’s flight AF258 on March 15.

He is being treated at a centralized quarantine facility in District 12 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 82nd patient is a female adolescent from Ho Chi Minh City. On March 14, she and her mother flew from London on flight EK30, after transiting in Dubai, they arrived in Vietnam on March 15 on Emirates’ flight EK364.

She did not have the disease symptoms upon her arrival but was taken to a centralized quarantine facility in District 12 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 83rd patient is an American woman, aged 50. Before entering Vietnam, she had traveled to Phuket, Thailand and flew to Vietnam on March 15 from Istanbul, Turkey on flight TK162.

Upon her arrival, she did not have symptoms like fever or shortness of breath and was sent to a centralized quarantine facility in District 12 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 84th patient is a 21-year old male student, returning from the UK. He landed at Noi Bai International Airport on flight VN0054 on March 18.

He is being treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

The 85th patient is a 20-year old male student from Ha Noi. He was on the same flight VN0054 with the 84th patient from London to Ha Noi on March 18.

He is being treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

All the aforesaid patients have been reportedly in stable health conditions.

Of the total patients confirmed so far, 16 had been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospitals while all the rest have been reported since March 6.

The current patients include 23 foreign nationals from the UK, Germany, France, the USA, Latvia, Czech Republic and Ireland.
