Four more COVID-19 infection cases confirmed, total rises to 91

The Ministry of Health on March 20 confirmed four more COVID-19 infection cases in Vietnam, raising the total to 91.

They are the 88th, 89th, 90th and 91st patients in the Southeast Asian nation.

The 88th patient is a 25-year old female student returning to Ha Noi from the UK on March 12.

She isolated herself at home between until March 16 when she developed shortness of breath and contacted Ha Noi’s Center for Disease Control for COVID-19 diagnosis.

She has been taken to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment.

The 89th patient is a 22-year old female resident of Ho Chi Minh City. She flew from New York, Boston in the USA to Japan and landed in Tan Son Nhat international airport on March 17 on AirJapan’s flight NH831.

She did not show symptoms of the disease upon her arrival, but her test samples were sent to Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute for diagnosis and were confirmed having the virus on March 18.

She is being treated at the Cu Chi field hospital in the city.

The 90th patient is a 21-year old woman from Ho Chi Minh City. Over the past month she stayed in Barcelona, Spain and returned to the city on March 15 on Emirates’ flight EK392.

She got a light fever and cough upon her arrival. Then she was sent to a centralized quarantine facility in the city and confirmed contracting the virus.

The 91st patient is a 43-year old British pilot of the Vietnam Airlines. He was passenger on flight VN10 from London to Vietnam on February 8.

He piloted Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN272 Ho Chi Minh City – Ha Noi and VN607 Ha Noi - Ho Chi Minh City on March 16.

From March 13-18, he stayed in Ho Chi Minh City and went to several places for eating and entertainment.

On March 17, he got fever and cough and went to Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases for medical checks and was then hospitalized due to right lung tissue damage.

He was confirmed contracting the virus on early March 20.
