Poet Nora Gomringer will introduce her book “Moden”, with illustrations by Reimar Limmer, at a book presentation event slated for May 5.

Through 25 poems featured in the book, Nora Gomringer refutes the prejudice of fashion as a mere pretense. For Nora Gomringer, fashion is inevitably connected with how we feel and how we are.

The event will be attended by Chu Thi Thu Phuong, translator of the book and led by MC Nha Thuyen, starting at 7 p.m. Nha Thuyen is a lyricist and has co-founded “AJAR” with Kaitlin Rees, which is a publisher and literary space and is intended as a cross-language project.

Nora Gomringer was born in Neunkirchen, Germany in 1980. She has published eight volumes of poetry as well as numerous essays and short stories.

Nora Gomringer was a lecturer in poetics in Koblenz, Kiel, Sheffield and Vienna. Through scholarships from the Goethe Institut, she also spent time in Helsinki and Kyoto. Some of her notable awards include the Jacob Grimm Prize in 2011, the Joachim Ringelnatz Prize for poetry in 2012 and the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 2015.

On May 11, the Goethe Institut will hold a presentation of the books “Love Flights” and “Summer Lies” by world-renowned author Bernhard Schlink.

“Love Flights” is a collection of seven love stories about desire, closeness and loneliness while “Summer Lies” brings together life plans and riddles, hopes and illusions.

The two books were translated into Vietnamese by Le Quang. Quang also translated Schlink’s best-selling novels “The Reader” and “The Woman on the Stairway.”

Bernhard Schlink was born in Bielefeld, Germany in 1944. He was Professor of Public Law and Philosophy of Law at the Humboldt University, Berlin, until his retirement. He wrote crime novels and gained worldwide fame with his book “Der Vorleser”.
